Introduction to Qigong: Cultivating Vitality & Internal Balance offers a thoughtful blend of learning and embodied practice for those curious about working with energy through movement, breath, and awareness. Taught by Paul Taylor Novay, this class provides a grounded introduction to qigong through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is accessible to both beginners and experienced practitioners.
From the instructor:
“This class is a combined talk and guided demonstration introducing qigong through the framework of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is taught by an instructor with over 20 years of experience practicing tai chi and qigong. We will begin with a practical overview of Chinese medical anatomy—focusing on the organ systems, qi, and internal dynamics—and how different qigong practices influence the body from this perspective.
The class will then break down five specific qigong exercises, explaining how each one works to cultivate, regulate, and strengthen qi through posture, breath, intention, and internal alignment. Finally, participants will be guided through all five exercises, allowing them to directly experience how these practices support vitality, balance, and internal harmony.”
